SmartFruit Juba
Digital Farming
This venture aims to establish SmartFruit Juba, a modern, digitally enabled fruit farm that meets the rising demand for fresh, high-quality produce in South Sudan’s capital. By integrating precision agriculture tools—such as soil sensors, digital irrigation, and farm management software—the business will maximise yields, reduce waste, and ensure consistent quality. The farm will initially focus on fast-selling, high-demand fruits such as watermelons, pineapples and papayas, with potential for value-added processing (e.g. dried fruits, juices) as operations scale.

An initial investment of $80,000 will cover land acquisition or leasing, setup costs, solar-powered irrigation, seedlings, equipment, and working capital. The farm will target both retail and wholesale markets, including supermarkets, restaurants, and roadside vendors. Digital platforms will also be used to connect directly with consumers and reduce post-harvest losses. Financial projections suggest the business can become cash-flow positive by Year 3 and profitable soon after, with strong potential for expansion through reinvestment or strategic partnerships. By combining agricultural best practices with smart technologies, SmartFruit Juba aims to become a model for sustainable farming and a key contributor to local food security and economic development.
